The Sidercem Laboratory carries out characterisation tests and related chemical analyses pursuant to Legislative Decree 152 of 03/04/2006 on various matrices – soils / water / lands etc. – or on the “headspace” (for example in the research of: pesticides, heavy metals, inorganic pollutants, aromatic organic compounds, polycyclic aromatic compounds, aliphatic chlorinated carcinogens and not carcinogens, carcinogenic halogen aliphates, nitrobenzenes, chlorobenzenes, phenols and chlorophenols , aromatic amino acids, etc.). It is a laboratory provided with accreditation according to the UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17025: 2018 standard “General requirements for testing and calibration expertise of Laboratories” by ACCREDIA.
In 1999 the Ministry of Health recognised Sidercem as suitable for asbestos research pursuant to Ministerial Decree 7/7/97. The continued eligibility issued over the years is subject to the positive outcome of the intercalibration programs coordinated by the same Ministry.
Since 1999, the Caltanissetta Laboratory has participated, with excellent results, in the programs planned for the following analysis methods: scanning electron microscopy (SEM), optical phase contrast microscopy (MOCF), X-ray diffractometry (DRX).
Since 2008, we possess the accreditation of public and private laboratories that carry out asbestos analyses (CCM “Asbestos” Ministry of Health Project-ISPESL), provided by the Higher Institute for Occupational Safety and Prevention – Occupational Hygiene Department.
